The assignment description was to create three separate patterns that appeared to be part of a set using plants to convey three different themes: horror, love, and adventure. We had complete freedom in our color palettes and methods of creating a pattern. I interpreted the assignment by manipulating the plant forms to create figure like forms. I used a different pair of complementary colors for each theme: yellow and purple, green and red, and blue and orange. I was hoping to achieve three separate pieces that could exist as stand-alone pieces as well as be relatable to the viewer. I feel like this project helped me improve as an artist because it allowed me to explore digital art. I am new to digital art, and this was an excuse for me to deeply dive into the media. I felt like improved significantly with each drawing and I loved the freedom we were given with this assignment.

This was a two-part project in 2D Design. Part one was to create a realistic scientific drawing of an animal of our choice. Part two was to create an iconic form of our animal. I chose to draw an Emperor Scorpion. I was hoping to achieve a detailed drawing, convey texture, and capture the intensity of this animal all whilst respecting the animal form. I feel like this project helped me enrich my portfolio because I was able to produce an accurate biological drawing that exhibits my patience and love of drawing.

The assignment was to draw a still life in proper perspective using techniques we learned in class. We were able to create our own still life composition using whatever objects we wanted to. We needed at least one spherical form, one cubic form, and one cylindrical form. I interpreted the assignment by using seven different objects and one dramatic light source. Using multiple sheets of bond paper, I was able to capture this still life. I feel like this project helped me improve as an artist because it improved my ability to not only draw from life, but to also do so in an accurate way with proper perspective and create an internal understanding of the objects themselves.
