Hi, I’m Yun-Ju. The painting was a documentary of my feeling of struggles and finding hopes again. As times passed, I learned that only in the dark can we see the brightest stars. This thought is what I would like to express in my painting. With each calendar year changes, there are so many memories behinds, and even in my darkest and loneliness time as a foreigner in Canada, I could still see that there were beautiful stars in the dark night, and so many kind people who helped me. The girl in the paintings carries a luggage full of her important and beautiful memories from the past into her next chapter in life. I hope the painting can be an encouragement that there are still beautiful memories even in the darkest time in life, and no matter what happens, the next chapter will always be there for you.

Hi, I am Yun-Ju Chen. In my paintings, I want to express the feelings of struggles and finding hopes as an international student in Canada. There are many dark nights where I cried and struggled, feeling like standing on a strangeness ocean floor that I could never move forward, however, there are days where I found a sense of hope that I would find my own way of facing life. Day and night, struggles and hope, I believe eventually I will find my own way of living in this beautiful foreign country Canada, and be ready to embrace my future.

Hi I’m Yun-Ju. In this painting, I would like to express the feelings of a beautiful uncertainty about the future. This painting was inspired by the time I was walking at the lovely lake in Oakville and gazing afar at Toronto. The window and the reflection of myself and Toronto represent that no mater what happen on the other side (future), I have always got myself. As an international student and a foreigner in Canada, sometimes I feel I am lost and not so sure about myself and the future, however, I always keep the belief in mind that the future will always be as colorful as I believe it would be. I hope at the end of the day, I can always remember that I am the one who is always there with me in this beautiful country Canada. Hope my painting reminds you that you’ve always got yourself!

Life is very amazing and beautiful, there are many magnificent moments of encountering the love of your life, and beautiful times when we say goodbye to them.
